Kitchener, Ontario, Canada School of Business - Continuing Education at Conestoga College Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Position Summary

Full-Time Administrative, new position

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation, the Schlegel Research Chair & Research Lead, Interprofessional Learning and Practice in Aging, will help to advance the Centre's strategic objectives related to growing a research program on interprofessional team development in the care continuum for older adults. This includes the implementation of a strategic plan to apply for funding, conduct funded project activities, evaluation and reporting.

Specifically, with a clinical and/or healthcare background, specialization in geriatrics and/or gerontology, and interprofessional team development, the incumbent will lead and collaborate with others to conduct impactful aging research in congregate and broader community living settings, including the intersection with the continuum of healthcare settings. The Schlegel Chair will advance research on interprofessional team development, with a specific focus on organizational learning, training and simulation, with the overarching goal of improving teamwork between disciplines and improving the quality of life and care for older adults. Drawing from robust industry experience, the Chair will have an advanced understanding of the current state of the healthcare workforce and interprofessional team approach to care. The incumbent will build on a network of contacts for community and industry stakeholders, policymakers and experts in gerontological research.

The Schlegel Research Chair in Interprofessional Learning and Practice in Aging will work collaboratively between the Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA). The position entails research to be conducted at Conestoga College and the RIA. As a Schlegel Research Chair, the incumbent will collaborate with RIA researchers and fellow Schlegel Chairs to leverage RIA's infrastructure and fulfill service requirements, such as public engagement, presentations and education. The Chair is expected to initiate new interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with scholars and partners both within and outside the Conestoga and RIA community.

The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with three days on-site at the Doon campus in Kitchener and two days remote or on-site at the RIA within the Centre of Excellence for Innovation in Aging in Waterloo RIA facilities. Flexibility in scheduling is required as there may occasionally be a need for more days on-site or at a different location. Hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but are subject to change. Weekend and evening work may be occasionally required to meet project needs.

Applications will be provided to the hiring team weekly.
