Schlegel Research Chair & Research Lead, Interprofessional Learning and Practice in Aging Position Summary:Full‑time Administrative, new position reporting to the Director, Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation. The Chair will help advance the Centre’s strategic objectives related to growing a research program on interprofessional team development in the care continuum for older adults. This includes implementing a strategic plan to apply for funding, conduct funded project activities, and provide evaluation and reporting. Key Responsibilities: Lead an independent program of research in geriatrics/gerontology with a focus on interprofessional learning for students and care providers in diverse care settings, advancing quality of care and quality of life for older adults. Lead the implementation, evaluation, and reporting for aging‑specific applied research projects under the Director’s direction according to reporting guidelines and best research practices. Work with the Director to seek and apply for new funding opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with the Research Institute for Aging network and industry organizations, attending meetings, events and contributing to aging‑related research. Lead preparation of knowledge translation products such as manuscripts, conference submissions, lay‑summary documents and reports. Train students and faculty in conducting aging‑related research and evaluation. Engage with prospective external partners and collaborators under the Director’s guidance. Qualifications: PhD in health or a related field. Minimum nine years of industry experience in aging research, working with clinicians, interprofessional teams and older adults. Clinician background (Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Allied Health) strongly preferred. Established record of peer‑reviewed publications and other dissemination formats. Evidence of membership in interdisciplinary research teams. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering health‑care workforce education, including simulation. Evidence of reviewing for accredited journals and conferences. Record of sustained awards/grants as principal investigator and co‑investigator. Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in research. Experience supervising and mentoring students. Strong administrative skills. Work Location & Hours:Hybrid arrangement: three days on‑site at the Doon campus in Kitchener and two days remote or on‑site at the RIA within the Centre of Excellence for Innovation in Aging. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., subject to change; weekend and evening work may be occasionally required. Application Process:Applications submitted to the hiring team weekly.
