Job description

Nestled in the heart of Regent Park, Café ZUZU Pizzeria is the neighbourhood spot where everyone feels like famiglia. By day, ZUZU hums with coffee, conversation, and the smell of fresh-baked pan pizza. By night, our dining room transforms – 16" pies, Nonna-style cooking that doesn't hold back on the sauce, flowing wine, and that signature warmth only Nonna can teach.

Café ZUZU Pizzeria is open Wednesday & Thursday 4-10pm, and Friday through to Sunday 11am-10pm.

The Role

The Line Cook is responsible for following recipes and cooking menu items to spec, communicating with team members and fostering a positive work environment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all food is prepared to the standards as set out by the Chef de Cuisine
  • Ensure that all menu items are being cooked to spec
  • Communicate with team members for smooth operation of service
  • Take daily inventory to ensure that food waste is kept to a minimum
  • Follow all operating procedures and identify and correct any organizational problems that impact the effectiveness of the operation
  • Ensure that all health, safety, and cleanliness standards are adhered to and correct any deficiencies
  • Handle all special requests and guest allergies to ensure guest health and satisfaction
  • Examine and accept supplier deliveries
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required

Who You Are

The right person for this role has strong organizational skills, excellent communication and an eye for details. Able to work independently and eager to engage with other team members. Chooses to be positive.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Previous experience in a restaurant setting
  • Time management skills
  • Thorough understanding of food handling standards in Ontario
  • Good knife skills
