Schedule: On-call during snow events; hours guaranteed regardless of snowfall volume

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Snow Removal Operator to perform sidewalk snow removal using a powered sidewalk machine. This position operates under a guaranteed hours contract and requires availability during snow events. In addition to machine operation, the operator will perform manual snow and ice removal in areas inaccessible to the machine, such as stairs, ramps, landings, and tight spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a sidewalk snow removal machine safely and efficiently during snow events
  • Clear sidewalks, walkways, and designated pedestrian areas according to service standards
  • Perform hand shoveling and snow removal in areas the machine cannot access, including:
  • Stairs and stair landings
  • Ramps
  • Entrances and narrow walkways
  • Apply ice control materials (salt or sand) as required
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure pedestrian and property safety
  • Follow all company safety procedures and operational guidelines
    Be available and responsive during scheduled on-call periods

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience operating snow removal equipment or similar machinery preferred
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, pushing, and shoveling snow for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in cold, snowy, and winter weather conditions
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Reliable transportation to and from work locations
  • Ability to work early mornings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by weather conditions
