The Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of Nuvollo. This includes managing financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, and payment processing across Canadian, U.S., and international entities. The role ensures accuracy in accounting practices, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains financial health through effective cash flow monitoring and reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant leads higher-level accounting functions such as month-end close, financial statement preparation, and EBITDA analysis. The role also involves managing payroll for remote and international employees, handling multi-currency transactions, and ensuring timely submission of HST filings and income tax documentation.

A strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial systems is essential. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting leadership with financial insights and maintaining compliance across all financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Issue monthly customer invoices and ensure timely billing cycles.
  • Review and approve employee expense reports prepared by the Bookkeeper prior to payroll deadlines.
  • Calculate and process payroll, commissions, and applicable deductions for Canadian, U.S., Indian, and remote employees.
  • Prepare and submit monthly HST filings to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Record month-end adjusting entries in accordance with accrual accounting principles.
  • Prepare monthly amortization entries and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage payments across Canadian, U.S., and international entities via EFTs and wire transfers.
  • Administer payroll processes for international teams, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare documentation and accounting entries for annual income tax filings.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly financial statements, including notes related to EBITDA adjustments.
  • Produce daily cash reports with commentary on significant changes or trends.
  • Provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making through accurate reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Review of AR/AP and follow up with clients for payment
  • Ensure proper billing of projects and client purchases on a timely basis

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax regulations, payroll processes, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with international payroll and multi-currency transactions is considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification is a strong asset.
  • Experience working in small to mid-sized companies, preferably within the IT or tech sector.
  • Familiarity with EBITDA adjustments and financial modeling.
