We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Center Cook to join our team with immediate effect. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in our care, ensuring that all food is served safely and meets dietary guidelines. Set menus, food restrictions and allergies which you will need to implement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
  • Handle food items with care, maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation practices in the kitchen.
  • Serve meals to children, ensuring portion sizes are appropriate for their age group.
  • Maintain an organized kitchen, including cleaning cooking equipment and work areas regularly.
  • Assist in inventory management of kitchen supplies.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness, discarding any expired or spoiled items.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably in a childcare or restaurant setting.
  • Current Food handlers certificate
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with staff and children.
  • A passion for working with children and providing them with healthy meal options.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and basic cooking techniques is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
