Toronto, Ontario, Canada CF Corporation Full time

Equity & Capital Markets Analyst

Our Firm

CF Corporation is a global leading firm in the human capital and technology space, operating, investing and advising since 1982, operating in 119 countries across our 30 individual companies.

Our investment fund, CF Capital is a premier investment firm specialising in SMEs, unlocking value through human capital and technology. It invests in high-growth companies via private credit, equity, and venture capital. Through its Human Capital and Technology funds, CF Capital drives productivity, innovation, and sustainable growth, ensuring long-term impact through strategic expertise and responsible investment. As part of our diversified portfolio, we have a dedicated fund that invests into liquid assets – equities and FICC. This which complements our private equity funds.

Your Focus

CF Corporation is looking for an Equity & Capital Markets Analyst to deliver rigorous, insight-led research that informs investment and strategic decision-making across public markets.

Your focus is on developing well-formed investment views grounded in fundamental analysis. You will research companies, industries, and market dynamics in depth – building financial models, testing assumptions, and forming clear theses that can be debated, refined, and acted upon. This is not passive coverage or report production; your work is expected to shape conviction and challenge thinking.

The role requires comfort with ambiguity and breadth. You will cover multiple sectors and situations, prioritise what is material, and balance detailed analysis with an understanding of wider market context. You will engage with company management, industry experts, and internal stakeholders, communicating your research clearly in both written and verbal form.

This role suits someone who is intellectually curious, commercially minded, and disciplined – motivated by understanding how businesses really work and how capital markets price risk, opportunity, and change.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research on public companies across multiple sectors and in parallel, private sector firms and analysis of sovereign, government and proxy entities
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support valuation and investment theses
  • Analyse business models, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and key risks
  • Develop clear, well-reasoned investment ideas and communicate them effectively to internal stakeholders
  • Support capital markets activity, including IPO analysis, prospectus review, and broader market research
  • Monitor market developments, earnings releases, and corporate actions relevant to coverage
  • Engage with company management teams and industry experts to deepen understanding and test assumptions
  • Synthesize large volumes of information to identify what is material to investment decisions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across investment, research, and strategy teams
  • Contribute to ongoing refinement of research processes, tools, and workflows
  • Maintain high standards of analytical rigour, accuracy, and independence of thought

This role supports investment decision-making through rigorous, insight-led research.

You can absorb complex information quickly, evaluate businesses and markets with discipline, and form clear, well-reasoned views. You approach analysis with structure and commercial judgement, and you are comfortable working with imperfect or evolving information.

You bring pace, resilience, and strong attention to detail, and you work effectively with senior investment professionals with minimal supervision. You contribute thoughtfully to professional discussions, consider alternative perspectives, and use them to refine investment thinking.

This role suits someone who is analytically strong, commercially aware, and prepared to be accountable for the quality, relevance, and impact of their work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree ideally in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline. We accept also individuals from any degree, especially those numerate based
  • Experience in investment banking (CF - M&A), asset management, consulting, or a related analytical role in a corporate or investment-based environment
  • Strong grounding in financial statements, fundamental analysis, and valuation methodologies
  • Proven ability to build and interpret financial models
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with high attention to detail
  • Ability to synthesise complex information and identify what is materially relevant
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present investment views confidently
  • Language skills are an advantage

We are open to considering candidates with experience outside of these brackets, if you feel you have the capabilities to deliver on our main criteria.

We consider any degree or subject and although your grade indicates your ability to absorb data and apply it, your degree grade does not influence your chance of applying to us and being interviewed.

Process

This application shall be open for the next seven days for our Canada office. We prioritise applicants with the right to work in Canada. If you do not have the right to work in Canada, you may still apply and we can potentially procure a working permit for you. Bear in mind that we are hiring across our global offices and shall post a vacancy for each relevant location over the coming weeks. Follow us on LinkedIn to keep up to date on vacancies we post, by location.

Your first step is to apply with your LinkedIn profile. We do not require a CV or covering letter, but if there is experience or work that cannot be clearly represented on your LinkedIn profile, you are welcome to share this separately on your application.

We aim to respond within two weeks of receiving your application. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unfortunately unable to provide individual feedback. You may reapply for the same position after at least 12 months has passed, which we consider as a reasonable period for meaningful professional development to merit reapplying.

Successful applicants will be invited to an initial interview with our HR team, followed by a conversation with one of our Investment Partners. We will ask you a series of interpersonal and technical questions, so we can understand how you think, your motivation, and the experience you bring.

Subject to the outcome of the initial interviews, the next and final stage involves attending our Canada office. We typically select four candidates at this stage. You will take part in exercises that allows us to assess how you interact with people, form solutions and manage ambiguity. You will also meet with two Partners in the firm to further discuss your career aspirations, expertise and discuss scenarios to understand your capacity to think.

All reasonable travel and accommodation expenses related to the process will be covered. Feedback is provided at the end of the day, and in some cases an unconditional offer may be made. We have also been known to hire more than one person, depending on capability.

Reward Structure

  • An annual base salary of 190,000 and up to 340,000 CAD, depending on experience and degree level (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
  • Bonus program of on-target bonus of 50% of base salary and up to 160% for high-achievers
  • Hybrid working is embedded in the fabric of our firm. Depending upon your role, we offer work from home, office or hybrid elsewhere for a period of time
  • Full healthcare including dental coverage for self and if you have an immediate family
  • Pension program with a non-contributory scheme of 12% of base salary per annum and options how your pension is invested with our preferred asset manager
  • Relocation is provided by the company for personal items and accommodation for the first three months upon joining, where required
  • Opportunity to take one career break for up to six months and use this time for self or other
  • You will have a dedicate mentor for your career development pathway, built around real work, feedback, and exposure to senior leaders

This role is designed for people who want pace, exposure, and accountability. Our reward program is structured for those that understand the level of performance required.
