What You'll Do

As a Science Explorer, you'll be at the heart of the action

Your role will include:

  • Presenting science in fun and exciting ways – Perform stage shows, demos, and hands-on activities that make learning unforgettable.
  • Delivering engaging programs – Lead workshops, day camps, birthday parties, and school programs designed to inspire young minds.
  • Bringing science to the community – Represent the Science Centre at special events, community programs, and outreach initiatives throughout Regina.
  • Caring for our resident animals – Assist with feeding and maintaining our animal ambassadors.
  • Keeping things running smoothly – Help with exhibit maintenance, cleaning, and ensuring a great visitor experience.
  • Contributing your creativity – Help develop and improve science demos and activities.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable, and energetic team players who love learning and engaging with others. If you are ready for an electrifying experience, this might be the role for you

  • Some post-secondary education is an asset – backgrounds in education, science, or performance are great, but passion is what matters most
  • Confidence in front of a crowd – Whether it's presenting a live demonstration or leading a workshop, strong communication and stage presence are key.
  • Experience working with kids or groups – Teaching, camp leadership, coaching, or public speaking experience is a plus
  • Problem-solving skills – Thinking on your feet and adapting to different learning styles makes a huge difference.
  • Curiosity and excitement about science – You don't need to be a scientist, but you do need a love for discovery and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to be active on the job – This role involves moving around, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • A Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Sector Check – Required for working with children.

Working Conditions

  • This is a part-time position and falls under the salary grid 1.
  • Expected 5-15 hours per week
  • We are looking for candidates with flexible, varied availability, with a priority for weekday daytime hours.
  • Additional evening and weekend availability is a plus. Candidates should be able to offer at least 15-20 hours of availability per week.
