The GoCode Outreach Science Educator supports the Saskatchewan Science Centre mission of igniting scientific curiosity in Saskatchewan residents through the delivery of the GoCode Outreach program. The program aims to engage participants in learning about coding, digital literacy, and computational thinking. The GoCode Outreach Science Educator is directly responsible for the delivery of programs conducted throughout Saskatchewan including school workshops, stage shows, special events, and summer education programming. This delivery will occur both through in-person, on-site delivery across the province, as well as virtual and in-house workshops.

Working alongside the GoCode Program Manager, the GoCode Outreach Science Educator will work as both a lead and supporting member of all GoCode programs the Saskatchewan Science Centre will offer. This role will involve program delivery, development, as well as reporting and administrative duties. This position is focused primarily on program delivery to students in grades K-12.

**Specific Responsibilities**:
**Delivery of GoCode Outreach programming including**:

- _Technology Based Education Programs_ - The promotion of digital literacy, coding and robotics-based education are critical skills for the future of STEAM education. Programs include exhibit floor experiences, conference workshops and club programming.
- _School Workshops_ - The GoCode Outreach program delivers school programming to students in pre-kindergarten to grade 12.
- _Virtual Programming - _GoCode will deliver virtual workshops and experiences to those who may not have access to the Science Centre. The GoCode Outreach Science Educator is responsible for delivery and improvement of these experiences.
- _Demonstrations_ - GoCode Outreach performs demonstrations and shows throughout Saskatchewan at both indoor and outdoor venues.

**Science communication - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educator promotes the exploration of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) through exciting and engaging programming. This involves presenting and facilitating learning for children with varying learning needs. A strong stage presence and/or the ability to elevate lessons is an asset.

**Customer service and promotion - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educator will communicate with potential booking locations to assist them in booking an outreach visit and to promote the programs. The GoCode Outreach Science Educator acts as an ambassador for the SSC while on the road and within the SSC.

**Program development and improvement - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educator contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of programming. This includes researching new areas of development, testing new programs with visitors and evaluating a program’s relevance.

**Staff supervision and training - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educators act as the leaders to summer students and part time staff while on the road and within the SSC. This includes providing training for programs and classroom management techniques.

**Program Administration - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educator will assist in the organization of GoCode Outreach events and travel. This includes the organization of travel, making related bookings and following policies related to purchasing and expenses. They are responsible for ensuring that proper reporting is followed.

**Other duties - **The GoCode Outreach Science Educator may be asked to carry out other tasks as assigned within the provision of programming.

**Qualifications**:

- Some post-secondary education in science, computer science, education, interpretation or related field
- Experience delivering STEM programming
- Experience teaching or instructing a variety of age levels
- Willingness to travel year round
- Experience in program delivery and development
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Flexibility and openness to a constantly changing environment
- Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Sector Check
- Be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Be able to work on your feet for extended times
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Training

**Working Conditions**

This is a temporary full-timeposition and falls under the salary grid 2.5.
- There is a possibility of extension.

**This position requires you to travel year-round. ** Weekday availability will be required, with some evening and weekend availability being required.

The Saskatchewan Science Centre will provide meal per diems, a vehicle, and will also cover accommodation.
