Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced pastry artist / baker who can work independently without supervision. This role is suited to someone who is efficient, organized, and comfortable working alone while managing their own production schedule. This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership of their work, manages their own production schedule, and holds themselves to a high standard of finish and presentation.
This is not an entry-level role and is not suitable for someone who requires constant direction or oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently produce pastry and baked goods from start to finish
- Follow recipes while maintaining consistency and quality standards
- Manage your own workflow and production timing
- Bake, finish, and prepare items for packaging and freezing where required
- Use ingredients efficiently, track inventory and submit weekly orders
- Operate ovens, mixers, and standard pastry equipment
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
- Wash your own dishes, tools, equipment and kitchen
- Identify practical improvements for efficiency and product use
Products must be consistent, well-finished, and visually appealing.
Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
- 3+ years experience as a pastry chef, baker, or pastry artist
- Proven ability to work independently without supervision
- Strong attention to detail, finish, and presentation
- Experience producing a variety of pastry and baked goods in a small kitchen environment
- Strong understanding of baking fundamentals and consistency
- Comfortable working alone and managing your own time
- Reliable, efficient, and focused — no time-wasting
Applicants without independent pastry production experience will not be considered.
Preferred Experience (Assets)
- Experience with traditional British or Scottish fare
- Production baking for wholesale
- Small-batch or traditional pastry production
