Overview

The Intermediate IT Project Analyst supports the successful delivery of IT initiatives within the Refinery. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring projects align with operational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The analyst may have the chance to work on a wide range of IT projects involving field operations, asset management, cloud-based applications, enterprise applications, etc., interfacing with various global or local Service Lines across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business units (e.g., midstream, downstream) to gather and document IT project requirements.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions from ideation, cost estimation, and requirements gathering through to deployment and support.
  • Liaise and execute tasks with global support teams, vendors, and managed services providers (MSPs).
  • Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects related to field automation, data integration, and infrastructure upgrades, etc.
  • Analyze workflows and data from IT or project tools to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in managing Agile ceremonies, project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Prepare project documentation, including business cases, functional specifications, and test plans.
  • Support change management and training efforts during system implementations.
  • Participate in system testing, validation, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Contribute to end-to-end delivery of projects with a focus on localized processes associated with procurement, staging, installation, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business contacts, ensuring problem resolution and facilitating system change management.
  • Coordinate on-site and remote support, offering after-hours assistance on a rotational basis.
  • Work in a supportive environment with a strong safety and security focus.
  • Ensure all applicable corporate IT standard processes and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate support for on-site and other remote sites as required, including but not limited to cybersecurity standards and internal controls.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement to strive towards operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in IT project coordination or business analysis, preferably in oil and gas or industrial sectors.
  • Familiarity with IT Infrastructure and Data Center processes and technology.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an asset.

Preferred Certifications

  • PMP, CAPM, or PMI-ACP
  • CBAP or equivalent business analysis certification
  • ITIL Foundation or other IT service management credentials
