The role:
We have an immediate opening for an IT Systems Specialist. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure. We are seeking a candidate experienced in managing complex networking environments, and maintaining robust site-to-site connectivity.
This is an onsite role at our office in Richmond, BC, with limited opportunity for remote work. You must be located in or be willing to relocate to the Lower Mainland.
Your primary areas of responsibility are:
System Administration:
- Install, configure, deploy, and maintain Windows and Linux client/server systems and virtual machines.
- Configure and maintain Microsoft 365 environment and AD DC on-premise.
- Administer software and hardware assets, including on-premise, cloud, and hybrid, as well as enterprise software systems.
- Repair, upgrade, and maintain networking and end-user devices.
- Configure and maintain networking infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, VPNs, and site-to-site connections.
- Implement and oversee security protocols to ensure network stability and safeguard data.
- Conduct regular system audits to detect vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
- Maintain data backups to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Assist with technical support for IT infrastructure, ongoing and new projects, and end-user issues.
- Resolve technical challenges promptly and efficiently in compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager and project stakeholders to plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing networks, servers, virtual machines (VMs), access control solutions, Group Policy (GP), device mass deployment and configuration, remote monitoring and management (RMM) systems, backup solutions, ticketing systems, and user administration in hybrid environments (including SharePoint).
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Information Technology or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in system and network administration, both on-premises and in the cloud — including Microsoft 365, Hyper-V, cloud services, hybrid environments, MDM, Entra, Intune, web servers, clusters, storage management, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), permissions and security, remote access, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and Linux systems.
- Demonstrated success supporting IT systems in a corporate or business environment with 50+ users.
- Experience automating routine IT administration tasks using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, think critically, and take proactive steps to prevent system issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to lead and deliver assigned IT projects or tasks independently.
- Experience with database administration tasks for SQL Server and other databases.
- Proficiency in coding and DevOps tools, especially PHP, Python, SQL, Git, and Docker.
- Familiarity with IT system life-cycle management and business continuity concepts.

Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 per year (negotiable based on your experience, qualifications, and internal equity).
