Rates Coordinator

Under general supervision from the Pricing Manager, the Rates Coordinator will be responsible to create issue and maintain all Pricing agreements and accessorial charges for all size customers for Vitran. Position will also have responsibility to maintain fuel databases, as well as carrier rate quotations.

The successful candidate must be available for the day shift, preferably from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and when necessary, must fulfill other work shifts as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Pricing agreements for all clients across all service levels.
  • Issue all new pricing agreements for accounts of $120,000 per year or less, and liaise with the Pricing Manager/Director of Pricing on new agreements of larger sizes.
  • Monitor revenue compliance to all new quotes issued.
  • Directly manage the GRI (general rate increase) process monthly, issuing quotes as well as tracking and stating progress for Executive Management.
  • Control and maintain all accessorial charges, review and approve reductions to charges as discussed with Pricing Manager.
  • Manage the various fuel programs across the customer base.
  • Assist in the resolution of customer invoice disputes as required.
  • Manage the carrier database in conjunction with the Pricing Manager
  • Data analysis and manipulation using excel is required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Salary & Benefits

This position is an mid level position within Vitran Express in the Pricing department. Starting salary is $55,000 - $60,000 with benefits. Benefits include: Dental, Medical, Extended Health Care, RRSP matching, Occasional remote work possible

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree required.
  • 5 years' experience in a transportation environment, preference on LTL experience.
  • Good grasp of Canadian Geography & understanding of various regions within Canada required.
  • Excellent knowledge of mathematics, comfort in working with numbers, and a strong grasp of profit and loss required (accounting skills welcomed).
  • Good reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly scrutinize documents.
  • Competent in multitasking, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Must be proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook etc.
  • Position requires advance level knowledge of Excel functions, such as macros
  • AS400 experience desired, but not essential.
  • Speed in numerical and alphabetical keyboarding necessary.
  • Bilingual abilities are a strong benefit (French) but not required.
