Junior Accountant – Contract
About The Opportunity
Our Private Sector Client is seeking a Junior Accountant for a three-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, while contributing to process improvements and supporting financial reporting within a collaborative and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow in a professional accounting role.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.
  • Help prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
  • Provide support in preparing financial reports, management dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and management to answer financial questions.
  • Take on special projects and other tasks as needed to support the accounting team.

About You
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Working towards or recently completed a diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or transaction processing, ideally within the solar energy or electricity sector in Canada.
  • Strong Excel skills; familiarity with accounting software is considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of Canadian accounting principles.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and willing to learn; able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a proactive approach and openness to feedback; motivated to grow in a start-up-style setting.
