THE OPPORTUNITY:

If you're passionate about protecting people, improving workplace safety, and creating a culture where everyone goes home healthy every day, this role is for you. As our Health & Safety Advisor, you'll be the go-to expert supporting employees and leaders across the organization. You'll help drive safety forward, reduce risk, and ensure we meet—and exceed—our compliance responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help build and maintain safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Audit departments to ensure alignment with Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
  • Lead workplace incidents investigations, identify root causes, and develop practical action plans.
  • Translate incident data into meaningful insights and recommendations that improve safety performance.
  • Track and analyze incident-related costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage WCB claims and work closely with external representatives.
  • Coordinate and support Health & Safety Committee meetings
  • Plan, develop, and deliver engaging safety training and events.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments to help employees work comfortably and prevent injuries.
  • Collaborate with DLH Group Health & Safety Manager on statistical trends, best practices, and sourcing safety equipment and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience as a Health & Safety professional within a manufacturing environment.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Strong knowledge of Manitoba Health & Safety legislation.
  • Hands-on experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, and workplace investigations.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training.
  • Experience conducting audits and analyzing safety risks.
  • WCB claim management experience.

  • Clear and confident communication – both verbal and written
  • Natural ability to build relationships, influence others, and earn trust at all levels.
  • A collaborative approach that gets buy-in without relying on authority.
  • Strong analytical skills and a knack for finding the facts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Highly organized with great time management and record-keeping skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and online tools
