About The Role
The
Manager, Employer Communications
, leads the team responsible for developing and executing strategies that deliver clear, targeted communications to participating employers. This role builds trust, engagement, and advocacy by ensuring communications meet the diverse needs of employers across all sectors, sizes, and administrative capacities.
Working in close collaboration with teams across the organization, the Manager leverages research, segmentation, data insights, and industry best practices to create relevant and accessible content for more than 750 current and prospective employers. The goal: enable employers to confidently administer the pension plan, engage their employees, and see themselves as proud CAAT partners.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in marketing and communications, content strategy, thought leadership, digital content delivery and administrative best practices, with the ability to translate complex information into plain language for diverse audiences.
As The Newest Member Of Our Team, You Will
- Shape and evolve CAAT's employer communications strategy, integrating segmentation, plain language, and data-driven targeting.
- Align employer communications with broader organizational strategies.
- Serve as a strategic partner and communications advisor to the Employer Services team.
- Lead the creation of plain language, employer-facing resources for all stages of the employer relationship.
- Ensure materials adhere to simplification principles, plain-language standards, accessibility guidelines, and brand standards.
- Expand the use of multi-format content to meet diverse employer needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with specific employers and co-develop tailored communications/plans.
- Use data from various tools to segment audiences, personalize communications, and measure effectiveness.
- Partner with Analytics, IT, and Digital Experience teams to enhance communication tools and identify new opportunities.
- Leverage employer feedback and net promoter score results to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead multiple cross-department projects, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to direct reports and project contributors.
- Build team expertise in plain language, accessibility, pension literacy, digital content, and emerging communication technologies.
- Ensure alignment of deliverables, secure subject-matter input, and obtain legal and policy approvals where required.
To Succeed, You Bring
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in communications, including 3–5 years in a leadership role managing direct reports. 1–3 years' marketing experience, including email marketing, sales funnel activities, and targeted campaign development.
- Degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Public Relations; postgraduate diploma/certificate in Corporate Communications is an asset.
- Experience with public- or private-sector organizations that engage multiple stakeholder groups (members/customers, employers, associations, unions).
- Proficiency in digital and social media platforms, client management systems (e.g. Salesforce) and email distribution tools (e.g. Mailchimp).
- Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries preferred.
- Strong issues management skills, particularly for sensitive or confidential communications.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills with minimal need for oversight.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
