Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with strong expertise in cybersecurity to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise IT systems while ensuring compliance with industry security frameworks. This role requires a professional with deep knowledge of Windows and virtualized environments, cloud security, and service management, coupled with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks across infrastructure and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Administration & Security
    1. Administer and secure Microsoft 365, Windows Server, VMware, and endpoint environments.
    2. Perform regular server patching, configuration reviews, and vulnerability remediation to maintain compliance and security posture.
    3. Govern and optimize enterprise password management systems and identity & access management (IAM) processes.
    4. Maintain and enhance virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack) for stability, scalability, and secure provisioning.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management
    1. Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies, including risk management, access control, and incident response protocols.
    2. Collaborate with security and compliance teams to strengthen physical and IT security integration.
    3. Proactively monitor, detect, and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
    4. Manage vendor relationships to ensure security standards are met across third-party services and platforms.
  • Operational Excellence
    1. Support business continuity by maintaining highly available and secure IT systems, including cloud-based financial and ERP platforms.
    2. Lead user lifecycle management (onboarding/offboarding), ensuring secure provisioning, data protection, and access control.
    3. Document system configurations, security procedures, and operational runbooks to support knowledge transfer and compliance.
    4. Provide mentorship and training to junior staff, fostering cybersecurity awareness and operational excellence.
  • Service Management
    1. Operate within an ITIL-aligned service management framework, including structured incident response, change management, and continual improvement.
    2. Ensure enterprise-wide IT services meet business needs through efficient, secure, and resilient delivery.
    3. Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 availability of critical IT services.

Please note, this position may require travel between CpK locations (Windsor, Guelph, Port Hope, Belleville).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Physics, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems administration, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity and risk management.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft 365, VMware, Windows Server environments, and enterprise security tools.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) solutions such as Intune.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, layered defense strategies, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

Certifications (Preferred / Required)

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) – required.
  • CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) – preferred.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation – preferred.
