The Employment Coordinator will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the EmpowerPLUS program. This position involves engaging with youth facing systemic barriers to employment, providing comprehensive support, and coordinating training and employment opportunities. The Employment Coordinator will work closely with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations to create pathways to sustainable employment for program participants.

Key Responsibilities

1. Participant Recruitment and Support

  • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to engage youth aged 15-30 facing systemic barriers.
  • Implement a thorough intake process, including skills assessments and career interest evaluations.
  • Develop individualized career development plans for each participant, outlining specific goals and timelines.
  • Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance to program participants throughout their journey.

2. Skills Development and Training

  • Collaborate with the Lead Employment Coordinator to develop a multifaceted training curriculum covering technical skills and soft skills.
  • Coordinate with local educational institutions and vocational training centers to offer tailored learning opportunities.
  • Organize and facilitate regular workshops and training sessions.

3. Employer Engagement and Job Placement

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses and employers.
  • Coordinate work experience placements and structured internship programs.
  • Customize job placements based on the skills and interests of participants.
  • Organize employer outreach events and networking sessions.

4. Wrap-Around Support Services

  • Connect participants with necessary support services, including counseling, mental health supports, and financial literacy workshops.
  • Address potential barriers such as transportation, childcare, or technology access.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Track and document participant progress, employment outcomes, and program effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with participants and employers to gather insights and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in employment counseling, youth programming, or a related area.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by youth in the labor market, particularly those from marginalized communities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspaces, database management, communication technologies, and a willingness to adapt to new technologies for remote service delivery and data security.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check & Child's Intervention Record Check
  • Standard First Aid Level C with AED
  • Class 5 Driver's License with a Driver's Abstract – 3 years of insured driving

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working with Indigenous youth, youth with disabilities, racialized youth, immigrant youth, and refugee youth.
  • Knowledge of local labor market trends and employment opportunities.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes in program settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with businesses and community organizations.

Working Conditions:

  • Head office : Camrose/ Satellite Office : Wetaskiwin
  • Frequent travel within Camrose, Wetaskiwin, and East Central Alberta for service delivery
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate engagement activities and program delivery.
  • A mix of office work and community-based activities requiring adaptability to changing environments.
  • The position is subject to the availability of grant funding and may be terminated if funding is discontinued

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
