Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Student Advisors (SA) are a key component of the Undergraduate Student Services who are entrusted with the responsibility of a holistic student experience for all students in the Faculty of Arts. The SA builds collaborative relationships with all Faculty of Arts students to provide specialized student advising that approaches the unique and significant needs/demands as they arise. This collaboration intends to assist the student in developing meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values, and abilities. The SA helps the students utilize the extensive network of academic and personal support services available on campus, and empowers the students to realize their full undergraduate experience here at the University of Alberta.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Advising & Engagement, the Student Advisor is responsible for:
- Advisement of current students in relation to departmental course offerings, academic programs, and associated university and community resources.
- Academic review and assessment of students in relation to individual course prerequisites and graduation requirements and clearing for convocation and certifying degree completion (for all degrees and certificates).
- Analysis and interpretation of student transcripts and associated records and documents.
- Independent communication and interaction with a wide range of individuals from a diverse community.
- Student referral to and coordination with university and community academic and non-academic support agencies and resources.
- Development and/or management of confidential files and records.
Participate in special projects at the Departmental, Faculty, and University levels.
Post-secondary degree required, or equivalent combination of education and significant related experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years working within a student service or customer-service environment, including experience with one or more of the following: student advising/counselling, admissions and records, recruitment, career advising or education abroad advising.
- Sound working knowledge of the University's student administration systems (Peoplesoft/Campus Solutions/Slate/Freshservice), Google Applications.
- Experience with assessment of domestic and international academic documentation and transfer credit.
- Ability to multitask and perform duties with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
