About the role
As a Team Lead your work will have a big impact on the BC Surety Department. You will be responsible for leading a team of Underwriters and/or Financial Analysts towards the achievement of our goals and strategic objectives. You will report to the Manager, Surety, BC.
This position is a full-time permanent opportunity based in our Vancouver, BC office.
What you'll do here:
Lead, guide, coach, and develop team members by being a resource for the team
Manage and build strong relationships with brokers and clients through regular broker contact
Approve line limits and overline bond requests within your authority level and make recommendations on larger accounts
Collaborate and work with the Manager, Surety, BC and other Surety Leaders on improving processes and workflows
Liaise with the National Surety Underwriting team on industry, underwriting and claims issues
Participate in workforce planning and employee recruitment and training
Manage team members performance by conducting development discussions and performance reviews
What you bring to the table:
University degree or college diploma in business, accounting, finance, or economics
Minimum of 5 years of relevant surety experience
Exemplary communication, interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills
Strong customer service orientation, analytical abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
Advanced computer skills: Word, Excel and Outlook
Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity:
