Medical Receptionist

Dr. Mitchell Brown is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our cosmetic surgical practice. This position plays an integral role in the daily operations of the office and is essential to creating a positive and welcoming experience for every patient.
As the first point of contact, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for all formal interactions with patients and contributes significantly to the overall success of the patient–practice relationship. This frontline role requires strong customer service skills, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-service environment. The primary focus is delivering an exceptional patient experience, while also providing administrative support and coordinating with physicians and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Perform administrative duties with efficiency and accuracy
- Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments for multiple providers
- Register new patients and update existing patient demographics
- Update, file, and maintain patient medical records
- Facilitate patient flow by notifying staff of arrivals or delays
- Respond to patient, prospective patient, and visitor inquiries courteously and professionally
- Maintain adequate stock of medical office supplies
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the reception area, waiting room, and exam rooms
- Participate in staff meetings and educational sessions
- Process financial transactions, including debit and credit card payments
Experience & Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or College Diploma
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical receptionist
- Prior experience in a medical office is an asset
- Knowledgeable about patient privacy laws and ethical healthcare practices.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong typing skills
- Experience with EMR systems is an asset
