The Continuing Care Branch of the Ministry of Health is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research Officer to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to shape the future of community-based health services in Saskatchewan. As part of a creative group of professionals, you will play a key role in creating the vision and strategic direction for research, evaluation, and ensuring accountability within the Branch's program areas. This position is based in our Regina office.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and providing comprehensive policy and data analysis to support key initiatives aimed at improving health system performance. You will evaluate existing policies and programs, helping to ensure they are aligned with the ministry's strategic priorities. By developing and implementing policies, legislation, regulations, and program guidelines, you will contribute to improving services in areas such as seniors' care, and disability services. Additionally, you will facilitate collaboration among stakeholders to address challenges in the community health system and support the development of performance measures and metrics that ensure accountability and drive results.

You will have broad knowledge of:

  • Government processes and procedure;
  • Health programs/services, systems and structures in Saskatchewan, specifically related to community-based care such as the continuum of care, seniors' programs and services, disability services, etc.; and
  • Research methodology, statistical analysis, program planning and evaluation.

You will bring a demonstrated ability to:

  • Apply knowledge of research methodologies to collect, analyze, interpret, summarize, and report information effectively;
  • Analyze trends and issues, identify and develop options and solutions, and make policy recommendations to align with Ministry goals and client needs;
  • Identify data requirements for program monitoring and contribute to the development of information systems, utilizing advanced data analysis tools such as R, SAS or MicroStrategy;
  • Conduct thorough policy analysis and program evaluations;
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with a wide range of individuals, groups, and organizations;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally;
  • Manage projects efficiently, whether working independently or as part of a team; and
  • Plan and organize complex tasks and projects, managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines with ease.

You will be:

  • Creative and analytical, able to quickly find solutions to issues and problems as they arise;
  • Intuitive and independent, capable of accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Objective when making recommendations; and
  • A team player, skilled in working closely and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
