The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and working closely with the Varsity and Campus Recreation Coordinator, the Athletics Event Planning and Development Intern will support the Athletics Department at Sault College. The intern will contribute to departmental growth by leading sponsorship campaigns, fundraising initiatives, grant exploration, and event promotions.

Key responsibilities include developing and supporting partnerships that promote mutual growth for current and future programming, engaging local organizations to strengthen community collaboration, and helping deliver top-tier athletic events in Northern Ontario. The intern will also assist in driving season ticket sales through targeted marketing strategies, support the planning and execution of the annual scholarship breakfast, and promote Athletics facilities such as the Rink, Fitness Centre, and Waterfront Adventure Centre.

What you need to be successful:

  • Degree or Diploma in the field of: Fitness, Health Promotion, Kinesiology, Physical and Health Education, or Event planning, Public Relations, Marketing or Sales.
  • Experience in sports, recreation, event planning and sponsorship
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent Marketing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Strong computer skills

This is a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation contract position funded for one year, this position will be 35 hours per week, $19.43/hour. In order to be eligible for the Athletics Event Planning and Development Officer Internship, the candidate must have graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. The candidate must be a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program. The position will be a first full-time employment in the candidate's field of study.
