Northern Health is looking for an experienced, and self-directed Coordinator to support the Indigenous Health, Planning, Quality And Research Administration.
Reporting to the VP, Indigenous Heath & Chief Planning & Quality Officer, the Coordinator, Indigenous Health, Planning, Quality & Research Administration (the Coordinator), is responsible for implementing, maintaining and adjusting the administrative structures processes, policies, procedures and mechanisms to enable effective, timely and reliable administration of the Indigenous Health and Planning, Quality & Research departments. The Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating, organizing and providing confidential administrative and project coordination and process support for the Executive Directors and the leadership team related to organizational and financial planning, budget monitoring, human resources and recruitment, project management and liaison, contract management and monitoring, and communications all within established policies/procedures.
As directed, the Coordinator identifies established administrative outcomes for the department and, in collaboration with the Indigenous Health and Planning, Quality & Research leadership teams, develops and initiates processes to guide the collection of data, commentary, decision-making and assembly of materials to satisfy the department's administrative obligations within Northern Health and externally to various organizations, agencies, Ministries, etc. The Coordinator has a key role in moving established admin processes, such as program planning, budget planning, report preparation, event planning, education planning, staff hiring panel processes, and travel planning, forward to completion and in recommending process improvements as needed. The Coordinator provides day-to-day work direction, mentoring and guidance to admin staff and assigned interns and recommends and arranges skill development opportunities enable continuous development of the admin team skill set.
Starting salary will be approximately from $67,861 to $84,826 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications- A level of combined education, training and experience equivalent to a post-secondary College Diploma in Business and/or Office Administration plus five (5) years of progressive related work experience.
- Strong current knowledge and skills in the use of WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, and Visio.
- Pursuant to section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current Indigenous health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region.
- Broad understanding of current issues, challenges and future directions of health care delivery in British Columbia.
- Ability to comprehend a situation by breaking it down into its components and identifying key or underlying complex issues; systematically organize and compare the various aspects of a project or situation, and determine needed steps, milestones, resources and participants.
- Ability to identify patterns or connections between situations and to identify duplication of effort, efficiencies and streamlining opportunities.
- Knowledge and experience with the advanced features of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of project management principles, tools, methodologies and templates and how these are used to effectively plan, prioritize and manage projects in a timeline, and to track and report progress.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communities and program/content experts.
- Demonstrated strong ability to mentor, guide and develop new staff.
- Ability to develop and maintain participatory planning and engagement processes.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment as a part of a small and high-functioning team.
- Demonstrated awareness of cultural safety and supports processes that lead to greater cultural safety throughout the continuum of health services.
