Position Details

Social Supports and Well-Being - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Prevention and Early Intervention, this senior management position is responsible for defining, planning, administering and supervising all strategic and operational activities and resources required for the delivery of the Income Support program throughout the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The position works in collaboration with Divisional and Corporate Directors on strategic issues impacting the program and Department; builds and maintains effective partnerships with senior officials with other government departments, Indigenous governments and groups, Boards, Agencies, and community groups to facilitate joint planning to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to service delivery; and, oversees the completion and submission of the regional operations salary and operating budgets. The Director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and services, and for providing and maintaining a healthy work environment for all staff. The position oversees a team of managers to implement departmental priorities, participates in key committees for organizational and service delivery initiatives, prepares plans and reports for leadership, and ensures efficient daily program operations.

Screening Criteria

1.Completion of a degree in Business or a related social sciences field (equivalencies will be considered)

2.Related experience in the delivery of social programs

3.Related management and supervisory experience

4.Financial and budget management experience

5.Completion of a Master's degree in a related field (asset)

1.Knowledge of social programs and service delivery models

3.Knowledge of Income Support programming (asset)

4.Resource management skills (human, financial and information)

5.Ability to effectively exchange information
