Role Overview

The Account Director is a senior strategic partner—leading portfolios, advising clients, directing integrated campaigns, and ensuring the agency operates with excellence and clarity. This role requires someone who is both highly strategic and highly organized, with strong instincts for people, creative work, and timelines.

You are the connective tissue between clients, strategy, creative, digital, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

CLIENT ACCOUNTABILITIES

Client Leadership & Relationship Management


• Build trusted, long-term client relationships


• Lead presentations, strategic discussions, reviews, and approvals


• Provide proactive guidance to elevate outcomes


• Anticipate needs, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks

Strategic Direction & Campaign Oversight


• Translate business goals into actionable plans and briefs


• Oversee campaign development from discovery to delivery


• Guide clients through complex communications challenges

Project Oversight (Client-Facing Elements)


• Manage client priorities, timelines, and budgets


• Ensure seamless handoffs between client and internal teams


• Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and client experience

AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Direction (Internal Collaboration)


• Shape strategy alongside leadership and the creative director


• Foster collaboration across creative, digital, and production teams

Team Leadership & Mentoring


• Support, mentor, and guide account managers and coordinators


• Set standards for communication, timelines, and client care

Project Oversight (Internal Team Care)


• Monitor workload and help staff maintain balance and focus

Agency Growth & Operational Leadership


• Contribute to agency planning and operational evolution


• Strengthen internal processes (briefing, approvals, FP usage, timelines)


• Identify new opportunities within existing portfolios


• Support succession planning and agency leadership development

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years in an agency or integrated marketing/communications environment
  • Proven experience leading major accounts and multi-layered projects
  • Strong team leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with calm and confidence
  • Deep understanding of creative, digital, and production workflows
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior clients in a collaborative agency environment.
  • Deadline-driven with a commitment to meeting deadlines and budget targets
  • Strategic mindset with a collaborative, relationship-first approach
