Burnaby BC VN A, Canada 49th Parallel Roasters Inc. Full time

The Roaster is a member of the roasting team responsible for roasting coffee to the exceptional standards of 49th Parallel. The position includes start up, preparing equipment, preparing greens, safety checks, independent roasting, clean up, and daily shut down. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning of the roasting equipment to ensure safe and smooth operations. You will prepare and weigh out the greens, and work as a team with the other Roasters.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate multi-function roast machine(s) via Cropster Intelligence
  • Follow product recipes and implement minor changes as needed to best batch coffee to intended profile
  • Schedule daily roasting using Acumatica and push to Cropster
  • Perform and document Pre-Op and Post-Op checks (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Cleaning and Maintenance of all processing/roasting machines and work area
  • Record production information (quantity, weights, types, recipe profiles, quality, etc.)
  • Manage and document daily green bean replenishment for weigh out & staging purposes, including using a forklift to move greens on and off racking
  • Physical and System Management of Green Bean Inventory
  • Manage raw material inventory with Cropster software
  • Lift and move 30kg bins throughout the day
  • Follow H&S and Food Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFITIONS AND SKILLS

· Minimum 1 year experience in specialty coffee roasting

  • Ability to operate multi-function roast machines
  • Knowledge of coffee roasting and physical properties of roasted coffee
  • Physically able to lift and move 30kg bins throughout the day

· Ability/openness to develop or have existing coffee tasting and evaluating skills

· Ability to obtain forklift license

· Have a "no job is too small" mentality: you roll up your sleeves, boldly jump in and get it done

  • Positive outlook, and ability to effectively receive and communicate feedback
  • VERY passionate about coffee

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.82 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
