Calgary, Alberta, Canada Hopewell Development Full time

Senior Vice President, Development & Construction

Location: Calgary, AB (with responsibility for Canada and U.S. operations)

Hopewell Development LP is a leading full‑service commercial developer operating across Canada and the United States. With headquarters in Calgary and operations spanning major Canadian cities (excluding Quebec and the Maritimes) and key U.S. markets like Phoenix, Dallas, and Las Vegas, Hopewell has built a reputation for hands‑on leadership, fast, informed decision‑making, and seamlessly delivering intelligent, tailored real estate solutions. As part of the Hopewell Group of Companies, the organization manages every phase of the development process, from site analysis and acquisition through planning, construction management, and successful leasing.

A key differentiator of Hopewell's platform is its general contracting capability. The company currently self‑performs construction in Alberta and Manitoba, maintaining direct control over quality, schedule, and cost. This model has driven consistent project success and is now being strategically expanded into new Canadian markets to support a robust and growing national pipeline. In parallel, Hopewell is evaluating select third‑party general contracting opportunities with aligned development partners, extending its construction platform while preserving a disciplined, quality‑first approach.

We are looking for an experienced
Senior Vice President, Development & Construction
to join Hopewell's executive leadership team. This role will provide strategic oversight and operational excellence across the company's development and construction activities throughout North America. The SVP will guide full‑cycle project delivery, strengthen governance and best practices, and ensure all projects meet Hopewell's standards for safety, quality, and performance. You will serve as a primary client-facing executive with investors, partners, tenants, consultants, regulators, and other external stakeholders, while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performing internal culture.

In this leadership role, you will oversee land acquisition, entitlements through design, planning approvals, design management, construction execution, tenant coordination, and project close out. You will ensure budgets, schedules, and risk profiles are effectively managed, and you will drive improvements in process, innovation, and ESG integration. Success in this position requires a decisive and hands‑on leader who excels at complex problem‑solving, cultivates strong relationships, and can guide teams across multiple regions and project types.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates will bring at least 10 years of experience in commercial or industrial development and construction, including over five years in a senior multi‑project leadership role. A Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related discipline is required; professional designations such as CET, BDT, or P.Eng. are assets. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing significant operational complexity. Strong communication skills, leadership presence, and a commitment to safety and sustainability are essential. Experience navigating planning approvals, interpreting technical drawings, and managing large‑scale budgets and schedules across jurisdictions is required.

In return for your leadership, you will receive a competitive executive compensation package including an attractive base salary, performance bonus, comprehensive benefits, and generous vacation entitlements. You will also gain the opportunity to influence major industrial and commercial developments across Canada and the U.S. within a well‑capitalized, respected, and growing real estate organization.

This is a rare opportunity to join a trusted North American developer and play a key role in shaping the future of its development and construction platform. To explore this exciting leadership position further, please contact Darian Goldrich at in full confidence.
