Steel Fabricator / Welder

$25–$30 per hour | Permanent, Full-Time | Day Shift

Location: Brampton, ON (L6T 5M8)

About the Role

Gord Telecom Inc. is seeking an experienced Steel Fabricator / Welder to join our shop team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can read drawings, operate fabrication equipment, and fit, tack, and weld steel components used in telecommunications structures.

This is not an entry-level or helper position. We are looking for a well-rounded fabricator who is comfortable working independently in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure, mark, and cut steel to drawing specifications
  • Operate steel fabrication equipment, including:
  • Welding machine (MCAW / structural steel welding)
  • Piranha Press Punch
  • Brake press
  • Bandsaw
  • Handheld grinder
  • Overhead crane
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld details
  • Fit, tack weld, and weld structural steel components
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and workmanship
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Work closely with the shop foreman and fabrication team

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of steel fabrication and/or welding experience
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings
  • Hands-on experience operating a Piranha press punch (required)
  • Comfortable fitting steel and performing tack welding / welding
  • Familiar with shop equipment and fabrication processes
  • Physically capable of lifting 25–50 lbs
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused

Assets

  • CWB welding ticket (preferred; testing can be arranged)
  • Forklift experience
  • Structural steel fabrication experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • $25–$30 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
