Role Summary

As a Freight Officer, you will oversee the end-to-end movement of goods, ensuring shipments are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with international regulations. This role serves as a central point of coordination between clients, carriers, customs, and internal teams—ensuring seamless, timely transportation across global markets. The ideal candidate excels in logistics operations, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates outstanding attention to detail and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the full lifecycle of shipments, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to client specifications.
• Source, negotiate, and maintain relationships with carriers and logistics partners to secure competitive rates and reliable service.
• Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation (bills of lading, customs declarations, invoices), ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable trade laws and regulations.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive updates, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Quickly identify and resolve issues such as delays, damages, or customs challenges, minimizing disruption and maintaining client satisfaction.
• Analyze freight options and processes to recommend cost-saving strategies while upholding service standards.
• Stay updated on international trade laws, customs protocols, and transportation standards to ensure all operations remain compliant.
• Maintain comprehensive shipment records and generate regular performance and cost analysis reports for management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (preferred; equivalent experience considered).
• 1–3 years' experience
  in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Deep understanding of international shipping, customs procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with clients and logistics partners.
• Proficiency in logistics software, TMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Analytical problem-solver with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
• Must be located in Mississauga, Ontario
  and able to work onsite or in a hybrid capacity.
• Experience in remote or distributed team settings is an asset.
