POSITION OVERVIEW

The
Marketing and Communications Specialist
leads the coordination and execution of Steelcon's marketing and communications initiatives. This role drives consistency in messaging, strengthens the company's brand, and ensures internal and external communications support business objectives. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will work closely with all departments, project sites, and plant locations to produce high-quality proposal content, elevate engagement on social channels, and amplify Steelcon's presence in the construction and steel industries.
This role offers growth potential into leadership for candidates who demonstrate strong performance and leadership capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning and Messaging

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and communication plans that align with corporate objectives and elevate Steelcon's brand.
  • Ensure all content and messaging reinforce Steelcon's positioning, value proposition, and industry reputation.
  • Collaborate with leadership and department heads to identify opportunities for storytelling and strategic communications.

Internal Communications

  • Lead internal communications initiatives to inform, engage, and align employees across all locations.
  • Create content for newsletters, announcements, intranet, and employee engagement campaigns.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for departments, providing guidance on messaging, tone, and communication best practices.

External and Client-facing Marketing

  • Lead the creation all client-facing content, including website, presentations, brochures, project profiles, case studies, and other materials that support winning work.
  • Oversee videography and photography, ensuring visual content aligns with brand standards and effectively supports marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all client-facing communications reflect Steelcon's expertise, professionalism, and industry leadership.

Proposal Development

  • Lead the development of creative, compelling, and customized proposals that align with client requirements and showcase organizational strengths.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to craft strategic, compliant, and high-quality proposal responses, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and effective design throughout.
  • Oversee proposal review and presentation preparation, including interview materials, slide decks, and supporting content, while driving adherence to best practices and continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Process Management

  • Lead and mentor the Digital Marketing Coordinator, ensuring high-quality execution of initiatives and content deliverables for social media, video, and photography.
  • Maintain content calendars, company/project information, manage project timelines, and coordinate cross-departmental communications projects.
  • Ensure marketing processes are efficient, consistent, and aligned with organizational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, compelling content.
  • Strategic thinker with strong storytelling skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sharp attention to detail and ability to verify accuracy across multiple channels.
  • Ability to produce content that adheres to brand guidelines, style guides, and organizational protocols.
  • Professional, decisive, and resourceful; capable of managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities while maintaining quality and deadlines.
  • Advanced social media management skills, including content planning, audience engagement, targeting, and analytics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across departments and project sites.
  • Technical literacy with photography, videography, design software and website builder (Canva, Adobe Suite, Wix).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital content tools.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction/industrial environment and able to quickly understand complex, technical concepts.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional marketing and communications experience.
  • Experience in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) industry is highly preferred.
  • Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience creating and managing client-facing content, including proposals, presentations, and professional marketing materials. A portfolio of work is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring junior staff and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing digital channels, social media, photography, and video content.
  • Strong understanding of brand management, messaging strategy, and corporate communications best practices.

LOCATION, HOURS OF WORK & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Location
    : Vaughan, 100% in-office
  • Hours of Work
    : Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 3:00pm
  • Primarily an office work environment with occasional travel to job sites and manufacturing plants
