Under the general direction of the Director, Employer Relations, the Co-op Coordinator will participate in business development activities and support student work-integrated learning during a Professional Experience Year (PEY) work term recruitment cycle. The Employer Relations team plays a valuable role in facilitating interactions between student jobseekers and hiring managers to solidify and grow existing relationships with PEY employers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance by engaging in regular communication
  • Actively seeking networking and relationship-building opportunities
  • Probing for information from employers to establish activities that best meet student learning needs
  • Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Advising students on work related recruitment processes and practices
  • Conducting work term site visits and writing reports on site visit findings
  • Reviewing performance evaluations and providing feedback to both the employer and the student
  • Promoting programs at events

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years or recent and related experience in any combination of employment services, recruitment and hiring, preferably gained through a role in co-operative education or internship programs.
  • Minimum of two years working directly with industry partners in a recruitment capacity or facilitating co-op work terms is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and expand employer relationships, including strategic stakeholder and partner engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively witha wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; web editing software, relational databases, and the Internet research tools.
  • Must have excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly developed sense of accountability, initiative, judgement, tact, diplomacy, detail orientation, and professionalism.
  • Results-orientation and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and meeting competing deadlines.
  • Highly developed presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong client service orientation and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel within the GTA and surrounding area.
  • A passion and commitment to the University and its students, and ability to bring energy and creativity to the role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotions of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Graduate degree or educational background in Engineering, Human Resources or Business.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are assets.
  • Goal oriented and comfortable working in a target-based environment.
  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 12 - $81,312. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $103,986. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
