Position Title: Inclusive Education Intervention Teacher Division: Elementary and Middle School

Position Summary

Selkirk Montessori School is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Inclusive Education Intervention Teacher to support students in our Elementary and Middle School programs. This role is central to our commitment to inclusive, strengths-based education within a Montessori learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver targeted academic interventions while working closely with teaching teams, families, and school-based

support services to ensure each learner can access the curriculum and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Intervention

  • Design and deliver evidence-based literacy interventions, grounded in the Science of Reading
  • Support students with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning differences in alignment with Montessori principles through small-group and 1:1 intervention
  • Adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student profiles and learning goals
  • Introduce and support the use of bypass strategies and assistive technology tools

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify learning needs and inform intervention planning
  • Implement ongoing progress monitoring and adjust interventions based on data and student response

Inclusive Education, Planning, & Documentation

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with the School-Based Team to support students requiring additional learning services
  • Participate in case conferences, problem-solving meetings, and transition planning
  • Communicate documented student progress through written reports, meetings, and ongoing dialogue

Collaboration & Community

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams to align interventions with classroom instruction
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
  • Contribute to a school culture that values community, inclusion, and partnership

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Master's Degree or Certification in Inclusive Education, Special Education, or a closely related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • BC Teachers Certification

Preferred:

  • Training and experience in literacy intervention and/or the Science of Reading
  • Strong background in assessment, data-driven instruction, and progress monitoring
  • Experience developing and managing IEPs
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills
