Skyridge Montessori is seeking a Preschool Assistant to join our motivated and collaborative education team. Skyridge Montessori has been providing a high-quality Montessori education to families in Squamish for more than 12 years. Perched on the side of a mountain, with sweeping views of Howe Sound and endless trails at our doorstep, students from Preschool to Grade 9 thrive in our newly constructed school, well-prepared Montessori classrooms, and rich outdoor learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, under the supervision of the teacher, specific educational and operational activities.
  • Assists with maintaining classroom order through observing, guiding, and re-directing children as needed.
  • Uses positive discipline strategies and discusses strategies with the teacher to maintain consistency.
  • Prepares teaching aids and materials, assists with record-keeping, and maintains classroom cleanliness, in collaboration with the Teacher.
  • Maintains regular communication with the teacher to discuss curriculum, lesson plans, issues, and questions.
  • Develops and maintains positive and respectful relationships with parents, children, and colleagues and solves conflicts appropriately and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Bachlor Degree in Education required
  • Specialty Degree in Education, an asset
  • Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECE) certification requires with ECE Special needs and Infant Toddler Certificate
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children.
  • Fluency in a second language, an asset
  • Desire to take Montessori teacher training
