Job Overview

We are seeking both Junior and Experienced Sushi Chefs to join our culinary team. All applicants must be able to make sushi rolls (maki) with proper technique and consistency.

For experienced candidates, prior work in a Japanese restaurant and fish handling skills (salmon, tuna) are required.

Junior candidates must have basic sushi-making skills, especially in preparing rolls (maki), and a willingness to learn and grow in a professional kitchen.

Duties

  • Prepare and present sushi rolls (maki) and other dishes according to traditional and modern styles.
  • (For experienced chefs) Skillfully fillet and handle raw fish such as salmon and tuna.
  • Prepare other ingredients, including sushi rice, vegetables, garnishes, sauces, and condiments.
  • Ensure all food preparation meets food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and assist in cleaning kitchen tools and surfaces.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Assist with inventory management and ingredient restocking.
  • Stay up to date on sushi techniques and trends and continually improve culinary skills.

Qualifications

  • All candidates must be able to prepare sushi rolls (maki).
  • Experienced applicants must have prior work experience in a Japanese restaurant and proficiency in handling raw fish (salmon, tuna).
  • Junior applicants should have at least basic sushi-making experience, particularly in rolling maki.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation procedures.
  • Strong knife skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player with good communication and time management skills.
  • Passionate about Japanese cuisine and delivering quality dishes to customers.
