Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Staff Accountant
to join our growing accounting team in Etobicoke, ON. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting clients by preparing accurate financial statements, tax returns, and bookkeeping records while ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting and taxation standards. This is a full-time, on-site position offering competitive pay, hands-on experience, and opportunities for professional growth within a progressive and supportive CPA firm.
The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and committed to precision in their work. You'll prepare corporate, personal, and trust tax returns, conduct financial reviews, liaise with clients to gather information, and assist with resolving inquiries from the Canada Revenue Agency. Pay Rate
starts at $21/hr – $23/hr and
Shift timing
s are from Monday to Saturday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with clients to collect financial information, answer questions, and provide timely updates.
- Prepare accurate personal, corporate, and trust tax returns, along with HST filings.
- Apply a strong understanding of Canadian taxation to ensure compliance and deliver practical advice.
- Review financial data and working papers to prepare clear, reliable financial statements.
- Communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to address or resolve client issues.
- Draft correspondence and other documentation related to client files and engagements.
- Maintain high standards of quality, confidentiality, and professionalism in all work performed.
- Support team members and assist with other duties as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Accounting (or a related field).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, tax frameworks, and documentation standards.
- Proficiency with Intuit Profile, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Word.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- About 3 years experience in a public accounting firm.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a client-focused, professional approach.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to work additional hours during busy tax seasons when needed.
