Calgary, Alberta, Canada Fresh Prep Full time $40,000 - $50,000 per year

Who We Are

Join Fresh Prep — a dynamic leader revolutionizing how Canadians experience food through sustainable meal kit delivery. As one of Canada's fastest-growing companies and a certified B Corporation, we're committed to making it easier for people to eat well and live better.

We're proud to be recognized as a workplace where innovation meets impact. Our numerous accolades - including BC's Top Employers 2025, placement on The Globe and Mail's prestigious Canada's Top Growing Companies list and recognition as one of Deloitte's Best Managed Companies - reflect our commitment to excellence in both customer experience and employee satisfaction. Our collaborative culture brings together passionate food lovers, sustainability champions, and tech innovators who are reshaping the future of food delivery.

Our collaborative culture brings together passionate food lovers, sustainability champions, and tech innovators who are reshaping the future of food delivery. And here's the key: this isn't a restaurant. We're a high-volume, ready-to-eat food production facility delivering meals directly to consumers. That means you'll lead in a fast-paced, production-focused kitchen rather than a traditional dining setting.

Who You Are

You're a culinary leader with a love for food and people. You thrive mentoring a team, helping them grow while producing outstanding meals. You take pride in running a kitchen that operates efficiently, delivers consistent high-quality dishes, and embraces teamwork.

You're a self-starter who sees opportunities to improve processes and elevate standards. Collaboration excites you—you know the best results come from a motivated, united team. You're adaptable, communicative, and ready to tackle challenges with creativity and a calm, positive approach.

  • Self Starter-You are comfortable owning a task from start to finish and you take the initiative to make continuous process improvements. You observe strict deadlines and hold yourself accountable for your deliverables.
  • Collaborative Team Player-You are motivated by collaborative team task achievement and driving a results-oriented culture.
  • Strong Communicator-Your verbal and written communication skills allow you to get results across easily and quickly, in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Adaptable-You thrive in a changing environment and are able to pivot direction easily.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Sous Chef, you'll be the driving force behind our kitchen operations, leading a passionate team to craft delicious, ready-to-eat meals, sauces, soups, and add-ons for our growing customer base. Your days will be dynamic, hands-on, and full of opportunity to shape the future of food delivery:

  • Lead and inspire the Kitchen Production Team to produce exceptional meals at scale.
  • Ensure every dish meets the highest standards for taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Keep our kitchen running smoothly, managing equipment, supplies, and production schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Champion food safety and compliance, ensuring CFIA, HACCP, and GMP standards are always met.
  • Innovate and improve production processes, boosting efficiency, yield, and team performance.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, QA, and Culinary teams to refine recipes, troubleshoot issues, and launch new products.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate your team to create a positive, high-performing kitchen culture where everyone can thrive.

What We Are Looking For

We're searching for a skilled culinary leader who's as passionate about people as they are about food. You're ready to step into a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen and make a real impact:

  • Culinary Expertise: You have a Culinary Diploma (Red Seal is a plus) and several years of supervisory experience in high-volume kitchens or food production.
  • Team Leadership: You're a natural mentor who inspires your team, develops talent, and builds a culture of collaboration, accountability, and pride in every dish.
  • Problem Solver: You thrive on challenges and can quickly identify operational issues, implement solutions, and improve processes without compromising quality.
  • Process-Oriented: You understand production timelines, efficiency, and consistency, and can juggle multiple priorities while keeping a calm, professional approach.
  • Strong Communicator: You communicate clearly, motivate your team, and collaborate effectively across departments like Purchasing, QA, and HR.
  • Adaptable & Innovative: You enjoy learning, embracing change, and continuously finding ways to improve recipes, workflows, and the overall kitchen experience.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Competitive salary that recognizes your skills and experience
  • An energetic, inclusive workplace where your voice matters and your contributions drive real impact
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance after 90 days
