Job Summary:

Working
as part of the kitchen team, the Kitchen Helper at Phoenix Society is
responsible for food preparation. Key responsibilities include: preparing meal
ingredients; maintaining a clean kitchen area; cleaning dishes and cooking
instruments; and loading items for transport to the Society's various locations
in a safe, timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Food Services

• Prepare
  meal ingredients for cooks, including washing, peeling, cutting and slicing
  ingredients
• Assist kitchen staff to unload food supplies from
  delivery trucks
• Store ingredients and food items according to food
  safety standards
• Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from the
  refrigerator, freezer and stockroom
• Clean and store all dishes, utensils and cooking
  instruments
• Pack take-out orders as needed
• Load, items for transport to the Society's various
  housing locations in a safe, timely manner
• Sanitize food service equipment (e.g., Cambro
  carts) when they are returned from meal service delivery
• Remove garbage/compost, replace garbage/compost
  bags and wash garbage/compost bins
• Mop and sweep kitchen areas as required
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High
  School diploma or equivalent
• 1
  to 3 years of experience in food preparation, cleaning, or equivalent
• Satisfactory
  completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is
  required
• Satisfactory
  completion of Tuberculosis Screen form is required
• Satisfactory
  completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
• First
  Aid certification with CPR is required
• Food
  Safe Level 1 is required
