Junior System Configuration Specialist

Reporting directly to the National Account Program Manager, the Junior System Configuration Specialist will be a key member of our team who assists with the configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance all mission critical systems for our clients. The Junior Configuration Specialist works in conjunction with project teams and installation resources to ensure programming and configuration requirements are delivered within the project schedule. They will assist in troubleshooting service requests to remotely diagnose, correct or determine the requirement for the deployment of a service technician. Their assigned administrative tasks are essential for system management and strategic growth.

This is predominantly a remote position that we want to get able to travel to Kitchener/Waterloo when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use and understand the system delivered to the customer.
• Work cross-functionally with departments to best support customer.
• Formulate strong relationships with sub-contractors and service teams globally to ensure deliverables are maintained.
• Information: escalate to internal leadership if they feel unethical situations arise.
• Perform basic system programming and testing during installations in adhering to client standards.
• Perform remote diagnostics and troubleshooting for system issues.
• Advise as to next steps in corrective action when remote fixes do not correct system functionality, including but not limited to patch applications, software upgrades, and/or onsite service requirements.
• Act as an escalation point after-hours for critical troubleshooting requirements.
• Coordinate Preventative Maintenance services, perform testing with technicians, and publish results. This includes updating the testing paperwork and providing service recommendations.
• Perform asset management duties; add new assets to databases, retire decommissioned devices, and update records due to renovations and projects.
• Perform monthly camera checks to amend configuration deficiencies.
• Manage certificates for network-facing devices. Includes creation and application of certificates.
• Assist with firmware updates of controllers and cameras as required.
• Assist with applying cypher management in accordance with client standards.
• Assist with network and communication improvements, upgrades and repairs.
• Support development and implementation of networking and communication projects and new technology installations.
• Test and certify networks, servers and client software applications and associated peripherals.
• Aid in the preparation of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for network installations, including date, voice, PC and video systems
• Work in conjunction clients to ensure that networked assets with identified vulnerabilities are corrected within the timelines set forth by the client.

EXPERIENCE

• College degree/diploma in computer programming
• Access Control: CCURE 9000 Advanced Integrator - AC9005, CCURE 9000 Enterprise Architecture - AC9444, CCURE 9000 System Installer/Maintainer - AC9001, Genetec Security Center Synergis, Genetec Security Center Enterprise Advanced Technical certification is a strong asset.
• Intrusion: Familiarity with DSC and Bosch intrusion panels is a strong asset.
• VMS: Axis Network Video Fundamentals, ExacQ Vision Fundamentals, ExacQ Enterprise Training, American Dynamics Basic VideoEdge Installer and Client, American Dynamics Victor and VideoEdge Advance Installer, Genetec Security Center Omnicast, Genetec Security Center Enterprise Advanced Technical, and Milestone Technical Configuration certification is a strong asset.
• Experience in troubleshooting software and hardware problems on various equipment, including laptop computers, Enterprise servers, storage devices, and networking devices (switches/routers).
• Familiarity with AI and biometrics is an asset.
• Proven work experience performing remote and on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of network and communication problems for a variety of end users.
