Director of Risk

The Position:
The Director of Risk and Compliance is a senior leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Credit Union's overall risk management and compliance framework to protect the company's assets, reputation, and long-term viability. The Director plays a pivotal role in turning strategy into action. They oversee the department's operations while continuously scanning the external environment—regulatory changes, market dynamics, and industry trends—to ensure the organization remains compliant, competitive, and forward-looking.
The Person:
· Post-secondary education and/or professional certifications are preferred.
· A minimum of 5–10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, auditing, or a related field, often with several years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
· Deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
· Effective communication skills with the ability to influence.
· Highly effective time management and prioritization skills.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Willing and able to exercise the authority entrusted to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.
· Ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
· Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
· Confident, consistent, decisive personality.
· Ability to manage oneself effectively to ensure regulation during challenging or stressful situations.
· High degree of accountability and responsibility.
· Ability to travel occasionally as required.
Compensation:
· Salary range $90,000 to $120,000/annually
