We are looking for individuals who love cats and dogs, are compassionate and kind, are reliable and on time, and have a willingness to learn.

Job description

This is an independent contractor 1 year minimum position. We are looking for someone who wants long-term, part-time work so please NO TEMPS OR STUDENTS. Our ideal candidate is someone who will put in the time to get to know their regular clients and is interested in this industry.

We are looking for candidates who are ready to jump into an established pet sitter/dog walking position with a range of 10-20 home visits per week and occasional pet sitting arrangements that may include sleepovers. This opportunity is a consistent position that provides a per visit wage and part time hours, around St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake area predominantly. Pay ranges from $20 to $35 per visit plus tips (includes travel time to/from clients home).

Professional pet care industry experience preferred however experience walking dogs, volunteering at shelters, fostering animals or owning and taking care of any pets is an absolute must.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience professionally working and/or volunteering with dogs (strongly preferred)
  • You must be comfortable with walking dogs of all breeds and sizes, as well as working with cats and small house pets
  • You must possess a client-focused attitude and a desire to comply with our clients' wishes/ preferences regarding their pets' needs and care. We want people who care about animals

AND

  • Have a minimum of 2 personal and/or professional references outside of friends or family members
  • Be bondable (no criminal convictions)
  • You must be incredibly reliable. You must enjoy (or be able to work through) being outside in the rain, snow, summer heat, and all weather conditions. Dogs never take a day off from needing a walk, so we don't either. You will need to be prepared and make sure you have the proper outdoor clothing, etc.
  • You must be able to work with little to no supervision
  • You must have a reliable cell phone with data, as we use a mobile app for all of our services
  • You must have your driver's license and a reliable vehicle to make trips to visit clients' pets in their own homes

Job Type: Part-time

Part-time hours: 5-20+ hours per week (includes travel time)

Shift availability: Every day of the week, including overnights (sleepovers)

Hours: Operating hours (daytime visits) are made between 7:30am through to 9:30pm, Pet Sitting requires flexibility around pet's routines/feeding times/medical needs and may require sleepovers if requested.

Wage: $20.00-$35.00 per daytime visit; $65-$110 per day for pet sitting arrangements
