This position requires the ability to develop and program custom automated equipment. You must have the aptitude to problem solve independently, finding the correct, long-lasting solutions. This position requires off-site installation and commissioning of the Colt equipment as needed, but primarily working at Colt Automation's facility in Mississauga, ON.

As a member of the Colt staff, you must have the ability to work both independently as well as be a supportive team player. We are looking for team members who can contribute to and foster the established positive & productive culture within the organization.

The selected candidate will work on Controls Engineering for single and interconnected coil Feed Line equipment often integrated with Press controls, transfer system controls and other related systems as required. Provide technical support to external and internal customers. Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design, including electrical requirements, laser loop equipment, drives, safety standards, PLC, HMI's and servo controls, etc.

*PLEASE NOTE
: this position is for an established
"Senior" Controls Engineer only
, with 10+ years experience. Although guidance will be provided specific to Colt's systems and customization, we will only consider candidates who can hit the ground running. A valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel to the US & Mexico will be needed for installations, service calls when required.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • 10+ years experience in similar roles, preferable in the heavy equipment industry
  • Fluent in English (verbal & written)
  • College / University in Electrical Engineering and/or relevant education and experience
  • Previous experience in a plant environment is an asset
  • Proficient in electrical design, automation controls and sequential programming
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Strong communication, analytical and critical evaluation skills
  • Valid Canadian Passport with the ability to travel to the US & Mexico when required
