Dental Receptionist

Overview
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient service, manage administrative tasks efficiently, and support the smooth operation of the clinic. This role requires strong communication skills, familiarity with dental and medical office systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Prior experience with dental office management software such as Tracker is highly desirable.

Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations, including multi-line phone systems and patient check-in/check-out processes
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing and collections using medical billing and coding knowledge, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing dental scheduling software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Maintain and update patient records within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensure compliance with HIPAA and health information management standards
- Assist patients with intake forms, explain treatment plans, and provide excellent customer service
- Manage medical and dental office administrative support tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and documentation review
- Support clinic operations by coordinating care plans and assisting with office management duties
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical or Dental Receptionist with strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Eaglesoft, Dentrix preferred
- Experience with medical billing, insurance verification, and Medicare procedures is highly advantageous
- Exceptional computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Excellent patient service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience in a healthcare setting
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or hospital experience in a healthcare environment is desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Ability to handle medical administrative support tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
