FAIRVIEW INVESTMENTS LIMITED is an established contractor and real estate developer. We are currently accepting applications for a Safety Advisor.

Duties

  • Continual review and updating of company HS program to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation:
  • Work with site supervisors and site health & safety representative to ensure company safety policies and rules are always being adhered to by employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure Hazard Assessments are being completed.
  • Ensure site reporting and documentation requirements are being met and adhered to – i.e., toolbox talks, site safety inspections, equipment inspections, etc.
  • Ensure PPE requirements are always being adhered to.
  • Ensure company equipment is properly maintained and keeping the equipment maintenance files/records.
  • Ensure company personnel have valid required training and maintaining of training files/records.
  • Complete accident/incident investigations as required.
  • In the event of an accident/incident administer Workplace NL reporting/claims management as needed.
  • Development of project/site-specific Health & Safety and Environmental plans.
  • Developing Traffic Plans
  • Complete orientation for new and returning employees.
  • Conduct yearly Core Audit
  • Other duties as assigned and pertinent to the position

Requirements

  • Criminal record check Required
  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or relevant discipline
  • 2-5 years of progressive construction industry experience in a Health & Safety role
  • Strong ability to command respect and influence others to follow all laws, regulations, guidelines, safety policies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with NL's Certificate of Recognition (COR) program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid ability to work independently, use sound judgement and be proactive
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Reliable and takes ownership for their work
  • Must have full valid driver's license
