Position Details
Transportation and Infrastructure - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
This position provides project management and contract administration for medium to large complex engineering highway and bridge projects for Capital Works, including responsibility for budget control, investigating, and implementing contract change orders, maintaining daily records, scheduling, and supervising project staff as required. Reviews, revises and recommends approval of reports, project tender documents and engineering design drawings for compliance and adherence with Departmental requirements and accepted best practices within industry standard. Inspects Department infrastructure to assess damages, organize repair projects, and prepare technical and financial reports to the Regional Engineer. Conducts field inspections on Department projects for compliance with Legislation, Guidelines, Roads Specifications, Department of Environment Guidelines, and Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ensures safe work practices and safety plans are implemented by Department and contractor staff in accordance with OHS legislation. Liaises with Regional Engineer, Design Engineers, utility companies and other departments or agencies as required to ensure projects are completed effectively. Other duties as required.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. Equivalencies will be considered.
- Experience in inspection and construction of highway or bridge projects.
- Experience with contract specifications.
- Experience with RTK GPS surveying.
- Experience in project management.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the application of practical engineering techniques involving the inspection and construction of highway or bridge projects.
- Knowledge of contract specifications.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Knowledge of RTK GPS surveying and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
- Ability to manage time and tasks.
- Ability to lead others.
- Professionalism.
