Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada The Dog Patch Full time $40,000 - $60,000 per year

Company Description:

Join The Dog Patch, a family-owned facility that's all about love and care for dogs. We create a welcoming environment where learning and teamwork are a big part of our culture. If you love dogs and want to grow in a job that's both fun and fulfilling - you've come to the right place

Job Description:

As a Dog Daycare Attendant, you get to spend your day making sure our dogs are happy, healthy, and well-looked after. You'll be right in the middle of the action, learning everything about how dogs behave and communicate. It's the perfect job if you want to really understand and care for dogs. Every day, you'll interact with over 100 dogs at our facility, which includes services like daycare, boarding, and grooming. You'll also learn to follow various detailed lists and processes each day, ensuring that every task is performed consistently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Play & Supervision: Spend time playing with dogs and watching over them during group play to keep them safe and happy. You'll supervise and care for over 100 dogs daily.
  • Care & Feeding: Help prepare meals for the dogs, feed them, and keep track of what each dog eats to make sure they're all healthy. Additionally, you will perform daily wellness checks on our boarding dogs to ensure they maintain good health, keeping an eye out for any changes that might need attention.
  • Grooming and Add-ons: Learn how to give proper baths to dogs and provide additional services such as ball throws and walks for dogs whose owners have requested these add-ons.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a pristine and cozy environment for the dogs by keeping their play areas and sleeping quarters exceptionally clean. Our facility upholds a high standard of cleanliness, focusing on thoroughly cleaning all areas to ensure the space is always welcoming and sanitary.
  • Learning & Sharing: You'll learn a lot about dog behaviour and how to handle different situations. Plus, you'll help share cute and important moments with dog owners through social media.
  • Tracking and Communication: We place a high priority on accurately tracking information and communicating it to our supervisors. You'll be responsible for meticulously documenting details about each dog's behaviour, health, and daily activities. This attention to detail ensures that we can promptly address any subtle changes in a dog's behaviour or health.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with your team to handle the day-to-day tasks smoothly. This job is fast-paced, and we all support each other to make sure the dogs get the best care.

Personal Attributes:

  • Enthusiasm for Dogs: You should genuinely love spending time with dogs.
  • Reliable & Responsible: Showing up on time and handling your duties responsibly is key. It's crucial that you understand the importance of your role in maintaining safety and care for the dogs. We rely on each team member to be present as scheduled, as we cannot operate safely with insufficient team members. Therefore, reliability is a must, and being consistently available for your shifts is non-negotiable.
  • Communication: Being clear and friendly in your communication with team members and dog owners.
  • Eager to Learn: There's always something new to learn about dogs, and you should be excited to keep learning.
  • Time Management and Independence: As our daily schedule varies based on the number of dogs and activities planned, effective time management is essential. You will need to be able to manage your tasks efficiently and work confidently on your own, often without direct supervision. We need team members who can stay organized and adapt quickly to ensure everything runs smoothly and on time.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and out of high school.
  • Reliable transportation required due to limited public transit and early morning/late-night shifts.
  • Commitment to a minimum of one year, as our training process is very thorough.

Availability:

  • 3-5 shifts per week, including at least one weekend shift.
  • You should be available for early morning shifts starting at 5:50 AM and/or afternoon shifts ending at 9:00 PM.
  • We're open every day of the year, so you'll need to be ready to work some holidays and weekends.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Starting at minimum wage, with potential to increase based on your experience and skills.
  • Tips shared monthly, based on hours worked, starting after 90 days.
  • Free daycare for your dog, if you have one (after they pass a friendly intro).
  • Half off our grooming services.
  • Buy dog food and supplies from us at discounted price.

Career Growth:

  • Opportunities for Advancement: There is room for growth within The Dog Patch for those who show a passion for their work and a desire to learn and take on new responsibilities. We love to see our team members grow into new roles and help lead our services.

Application Process:

We'd love to hear about you—why you want this job and what makes you a great fit. Make sure to include this in your Indeed application. If we think you could be a good match, we'll invite you to come meet us and see our place in person.
