Reporting to the Chair, Business Programs, the Senior Instructor is responsible for providing educational leadership and overseeing the Computer Systems Technician Diploma Program for the College. This includes coordinating program planning and delivery, leading curriculum development and renewal, supervising instructional and lab staff, and ensuring the program continues to meet Nunavut's growing need for qualified IT professionals. The Senior Instructor works closely with government, industry, and College staff to maintain program relevance, quality, and alignment with employer expectations.

Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include

• Providing academic leadership and managing program administration, including planning, coordination, evaluation, and reporting.
• Leading curriculum development and maintaining course materials, hardware, and software to ensure content reflects current technology and industry standards.
• Delivering classroom, lab, and workshop instruction, supporting students through tutoring and counselling, and ensuring fair, consistent evaluation practices.
• Coordinating student practicum placements, liaising with employers, monitoring on-the-job learning, and evaluating student competency development.
• Supporting student recruitment and maintaining program records, including attendance, progress reports, and annual program reports.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a diploma in Computer Science, Systems or Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and three (3) years' working experience in an IT role with progressive experience, certifications and hands-on working knowledge of IT systems and networking. In addition, two (2) academic years of teaching, instruction or training experience, preferably in a cross-cultural environment as well as one (1) year of related supervisory experience.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

As this is a term position for non-Inuit candidates, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
