Reporting to the Senior Instructor, the Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting the administration of the Computer Systems Technician Diploma Program for the College. The role includes planning and delivering courses, evaluating student learning, maintaining program materials, and contributing to curriculum development. The Instructor helps to ensure the program continues to meet Nunavut's growing need for skilled IT professionals and supports program quality by keeping course content and equipment current, aligning training with industry needs, and upholding academic standards.
Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include
- Planning and delivering courses, preparing lessons, coordinating materials/equipment, and teaching using varied methods.
- Assessing and supporting student learning through marking, attendance tracking, tutoring, and fair evaluations.
- Updating course materials, supporting curriculum administration, and maintaining classroom hardware/software.
- Contributing to program improvement through evaluations, industry input, and culturally relevant content.
- Coordinating practicum placements, liaising with employers, and evaluating on-the-job learning.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a diploma in Computer Science, Systems or Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field and two (2) years of progressive experience working in an IT role and hands on working knowledge of IT systems and networking. In addition, one (1) year of related teaching, instruction, or training experience, preferably in a cross-cultural environment is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Short-listed candidates may undergo a vulnerable sector check as necessitated by the demographics of the learners participating in the program.
As this is a term position for non-Inuit candidates, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
