Reporting to the Manger, Tuberculosis Programs, the Senior Program Analyst (Analyst) develops policies and procedures in support of the elimination of TB to three target audiences: clinic practitioners, facilities in which TB is spread and family members and individuals experiencing the effects of TB. The Analyst targets actions along a continuum of prevention, identification, diagnosis and treatment in relation to these three main target populations with the common goal of improving the overall health status of Nunavummiut.

Responsibilities

The Senior Program Analyst provides program development expertise and develops resources used in the eradication of TB in Nunavut. The incumbent organizes and coordinates TB programming by integrating clinical knowledge of effective practices eradicating TB and applies this knowledge with Nunavut's current TB management practices. The incumbent will be leading an intra-departmental team, in consultation with the TB Manager, comprised of the TB Nurse Educator, the TB Program Officer, the Finance division and Regional Budget Officers to conduct analyses if the new TB Program including financial, administrative, and clinical overview outcomes. The Analyst will occasionally assist with community response to a TB outbreak – for example, through the provision of coordination of services and in supporting health care providers or in the provision of "evidence informed practice" information for specific interventions in remote settings. When necessary, the Analyst will also assist with coordinating human resources, supporting project management supply and distribution efforts, ensuring supply and timely distribution of TB medications and necessary equipment, and structuring of roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized post-secondary degree in health care field, such as Public Health, Population Health  or Nursing, combined with further certification/knowledge of communicable diseases and epidemiological techniques or statistics. If the successful applicant is a Registered Nurse, they must be eligible to obtain registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) prior to employment and maintain annual registration. Acceptable equivalences in education and two (2) years relevant experience will be considered. Knowledge of Inuit culture and the social determinants of health impacting Inuit communities is an asset. Public Health experience and knowledge on how to eradicate communicable diseases is also required along with experience in managing complex projects with a diverse team will be considered assets. 

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
