Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic data engineering team.

Reporting to the Data Platform Leader, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

This is a hybrid role.

What You Will Do -

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Analyze and interpret data related to P&C Commercial insurance to provide actionable insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with the data engineering team to translate business requirements into technical specifications for data integration and reporting solutions.
  • Utilize SQL to query, analyze, and manipulate data in support of business and technical objectives.
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of solutions within data warehouses and other data engineering frameworks.
  • Validate data accuracy and ensure the integrity of analytical outputs and reporting.
  • Perform gap analyses, propose system enhancements, and address technical challenges as they arise.
  • Support the creation of training materials and user documentation for new systems and processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data practices and workflows within the team.

Job Qualifications
What you bring to the table -

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.

AND

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, preferably within the P&C insurance industry, with a focus on Commercial insurance.
  • Proven proficiency in SQL for querying, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for requirements documentation, report preparation, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred:

  • Experience in data warehousing or within a data engineering team.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of Commercial insurance domain.
